The Wharfedale Diamond A2 Active Speakers, these are known as loudspeakers with wireless connectivity that shows a difference. While not the first of a line of stereo speakers that offer integrated amplification and Bluetooth Connectivity with compatible devices includes Smartphones and tablets. This ‘True Wireless’ Technology allows the flexibility than many such designs, with this combined with the award winning sonic know how, it delivers levels of convenience and performance that allows it to separate the Diamond Active Series from the wireless speaker crowd.
The Drivers
The 16.5cm woven Kevlar cone mid/LF driver for a deep bass coupled with 25mm fabric dome tweeter, derived from the Diamond 200 Series, for crystal clear highs. These specifically optimise the network to give active speakers immersive and bold performance which is equally impressive.
Connections
You need digital optical, coaxial or RCA-phono inputs for analogue sources, the H1 hub has you covered, bringing Bluetooth AptX for wireless streaming, and bringing features to improve the bass adjustment. This mono mode allows the speakers to be placed in different rooms for a basic multi-room system.
The H1 Hub
With each speaker, the A2 pair is powered by its own 50W amplifier resulting in consistent and fully optimised stereo sound. The H1 Wireless Speaker gives you a left and right channel signals to the respective speaker, this means that they are not tied together and can consequently be placed anywhere in a room.
It supports 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz frequency bands, this allows it to switch to be able to maintain a stable speaker connection.
The Finish
Design similarities are carried across the actives, such as the silver coloured driver surrounds, but it gets the new Active with the rounded cabinet edges.
